PET Scans for Rare & Uncommon Cancers – Are You Referring Eligible Patients?
At SRNM, we offer Medicare-funded FDG PET scans (Items 61612 & 61614) for the staging, treatment response, and recurrence of rare and uncommon cancers.
Did you know cancers like myeloma, pancreatic, uterine, HCC, and renal are on the eligible Medicare benefits list?
These are often under-referred – and patients could be missing out on the diagnostic power of PET.
For Item 61612: Benefits are payable once per diagnosis – make it count. For both items: Ensure you clearly note “rare or uncommon cancer – meets MBS eligibility” on your referral.
